DP-114 Traffic and Transportation Models Demonstration
Traffic Analysis Tools

Design and build a network of workstations and displays that will allow individuals to observe and apply various traffic and transportation planning models which are available from both the public and private sectors. The network will be integrated with projection units and possibly some traffic control hardware to help individuals better visualize the utility of the various models. The network will be housed on an expandable tractor trailer and will travel to numerous sites throughout the country. Several curriculum shall be developed to address different audiences. There shall be an executive summary for decision and policy makers and a variety of technical hands-on sessions that are modularized so that they can be adapted to the interests of particular audiences. There shall also be computer based tutorials which will allow individuals to sit down and independently apply some of the models.

This project is in the beginning stages of development. A technical working group was convened in February 1996 to discuss the proper direction for the project. An internal group within OTA is developing a formal proposal and work plan for the demo. Contractual activityies in support of the demo will be initiated in the early 1997. Work statements for the renovation of an existing trailer and development of computer based training capabilities are underway. Pilots for DP-114 are tentatively planned for the fall of 1998.
