DP-98 Underwater Evaluation and Repair of Bridge Components
Attacking What Lurks Beneath the Surface

DP-98 has been designed to provide guidance to the states in conducting condition surveys of underwater bridge components using "state-of-the-art" technologies. It focuses on those structures which have previously been identified as in need of some kind of rehabilitation. DP-98 is a follow-up to "Underwater Inspection of Bridges" (DP-80) a very popular and successful project which was presented in all the states in the late 1980's and early '90's. DP-80 showcased the latest instrumentation and equipment for underwater bridge inspection.

Along with DP-97 "Scour Monitoring and Instrumentation", this project was developed as a response to the urgent call to improve the overall quality of bridge inspection, maintenance, repair and rehabilitation in the country. Building on the foundation established in DP-80, DP-98 will introduce the highway community to state-of-practice evaluation and repair procedures. Technical assistance, to identify repair strategies for specific problems, is available.

Since June 1996, DP-98 has been presented over 15 times. In addition to our traditional customers, the states, presentations have been made (and are available) to local municipalities, other Government agencies and as special sessions at conferences. To schedule DP-98 contact the Project Manager.
