Newbery Award Books

The John Newbery Medal, awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) every year since 1922, honors the authors of the year's most outstanding children's book. The Newbery Medal is named after John Newbery, a noted 18th Century London publisher and bookseller who first recognized that children have reading interests distinct from adults.
