How to Turn a Topic Statement into a Search

How to extract keyword search terms from your research topic statement and create a great search from it.

How to Formulate a Topic and Extract Keywords for Your Search

Choose keywords that describe your topic to search.  A good way to think about this is to write your topic statement and then choose the most important words in the statement.  These words will become the keywords used in your Keyword search.

If your topic statement is: How nutritious are genetically engineered food crops?  Then the most important keywords (when changed to nouns), are:  Crops AND Genetic Engineering AND Nutrition.  So this becomes your keyword search that is entered into the search box.
