May I use LexisNexis? How do I access it?

LexisNexis® is available to all currently registered UNT students. UNT faculty and staff may also use this service for university-related business and research.

We have two versions of LexisNexis: LexisNexis Academic and “Classic” LexisNexis.

LexisNexis Academic

LexisNexis Academic is easy to access and easy to use. It is accessible from all UNT campus general access computer labs and libraries. If you have  Internet access at home, you can also access LexisNexis Academic remotely. [See Tips and Tricks for Using UNT Libraries Electronic Resources]

LexisNexis Academic contains many of the LexisNexis databases in a user-friendly format. The program also allows document printing and the option of e-mailing your results.

Using LexisNexis Academic provides tips and search strategies for finding information and documents in the LexisNexis Academic database.

“Classic” LexisNexis

“Classic” LexisNexis is still available to registered UNT students, faculty, and staff conducting curriculum- or university-related research. However, due to licensing restrictions, access to Classic LexisNexis is limited. To access it, student users must present a valid UNT I.D. card at the Government Documents Service Desk. Appointments are required and may be made up to one week in advance by calling (940) 565-2870 during Documents Service Desk hours.

Using “Classic” LexisNexis provides tips and search strategies for finding information in the “classic” LexisNexis database.

Students in the College of Business Administration may use the Classic LexisNexis service through the COBA Computer Labs.

UNT faculty should contact the Government Documents Department, Willis Library, for information about faculty access to the Classic LexisNexis service.
