Off-Air Recording Requests

Requests for recording television and cable programs must be made in writing by completing the Off-Air Recording Request Form. A request must be submitted at least 72 hours prior to the recording time. Please contact the Services Supervisor at (940) 565-4702 or in person if you have any questions.

Kastenmeier Guidelines

The Media Library follows copyright law and the guidelines for off-air recordings (Kastenmeier Guidelines):

• Off-air recordings may be made only at the request of and used by individual teachers, and may not be regularly recorded in anticipation of requests.
• Off-air recordings may be kept on reserve for a period of 45 days after the date of recording.
• Recordings may be shown once in class during the first 10 days and may be repeated once for reinforcement.
• After the first ten days recordings may be used by the instructor for evaluation purposes only.
• At the end of the 45 days, the recording must be licensed or erased.
