Current Students

We attempt to connect with current students in a myriad of ways. We offer many reference and instruction services that serve to reach out to our students, including many general library workshops. In addition, we stay involved with the campus community by participating in events such as Civility Week, the Mean Green Fling, and the Nationally Competitive Scholarship forum.

We also pride ourselves on developing interesting and fun programs designed specifically for UNT students.  More on these events is below.

Events for Fall 2007:

Facebook Live

The UNT Libraries are welcoming new and returning students during Howdy Week with Facebook Live on Tuesday, August 29 at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st floor of Willis Library.

At this event, you will find:

  • A fast, fun, and comfortable way to meet a room full of UNT students.
  • Several brief, one-on-one conversations with people who want to meet someone like you.
  • We will privately pass on your Facebook and/or Myspace info to those you select.

Meet your new best friend or future classmates! Attendees will rotate around the tables and enjoy interesting conversation with fellow UNT students, allowing you to meet many people in a couple of hours.

Cost of attendance is free! Please bring a copy of your favorite paperback to share with your new friends. The book may be used as an ice-breaker to get the conversation going.

Refreshments will be served.

NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month. The Libraries will host a month-long program for students, faculty, and staff interested in writing a short novel in one month. Events will include a kickoff party, weekly write-ins, and a "Thank God It's Over!" party. All events will be held in the Reserve Reading Room in Willis Library, with close proximity to the Cyber Cafe for all of your caffeine needs and access to several computers.

More information, including dates and times of events, are available at http://nanomonthly.meetup.com/77/.

Events for Fall 2008

Denton Reads

Denton Reads is a collaboration of all of Denton's libraries. Our goal is to unite the City of Denton by reading one book and promoting discussions of a common text.

Denton Reads will host events and programs throughout the month of October 2008, including book discussion groups, a children's fair, a film festival, and much more.  All events are free and open to the public and have been planned with UNT students' interests in mind.  For more on Denton Reads and the planned events, go to http://dentonreads.unt.edu

If you have questions about any of these events, please contact Annie Downey, Outreach Librarian, at adowney@libary.unt.edu or 940-565-3982.
