Caldecott Medal and Honor Books

The Caldecott Medal honors the illustrators of the year's most distinguished American picture books for children. It has been presented every year since 1938 by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association. The medal is named after Randolph Caldecott, a 19th Century English illustrator known for the action, vitality and humor of his picture books.
