Art Abstracts offers journal articles from over 400 art and architecture periodicals published throughout the world. Art Bibliographies Modern 1980-present
Includes all areas of art from the modern era (1850-present), with a particular concentration on photography. Contains abstracts of over 500 periodical articles, exhibition catalogs, and dissertations.
Bibliography of the History of Art 1973-present
The Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA), contains over 665,000 citations from 1,400 journals, conference proceedings, books, essays, dissertations, exhibition catalogues and microforms published from 1973 to the present. Subject coverage includes painting, sculpture, architecture, drawing, prints, and decorative and applied arts from antiquity to the present. BHA includes the entire contents of the databases International Repertory of the Literature of Art (RILA), (1975-1989); and the Répertoire d’Art et d’Archéologie (RAA), (1973-1989), plus updates of 8,000 or more new records each quarter.
Design and Applied Art Index 1973-present
This is a great database to search for art journal articles about design and designers that are not found in most other art databases. DAAI contains over 100,000 references from more than 450 design and craft periodicals published 1973-1998. DAAI also includes an education database that has data on nearly 2,800 universities and colleges that offer courses in design and craft subjects.
Grove Art On-line
Grove Art On-line is a digital version of the entire Grove Dictionary of Art. It is a great place to search for a summary of an art movement, historical art technique, biography of an artist, etc.
Humanities Abstracts 1984-present
Cites articles from more then 350 English-language periodicals in the field of archaeology and classical studies, art and photography, folklore, general scholarship, history, journalism and communications, language and literature, literary and political criticism, music and performing arts, philosophy, and religion and theology.
