Juvenile Book Collections

This collection, located in the basement of the Willis Library, contains fiction and non-fiction material for pre-school through high-school students. Sections include:

  • J REF -- Reference books about children's literature.
  • J E -- Juvenile picture books.
  • J Fic -- Juvenile fiction books.
  • J -- Juvenile information and non-fiction books.

Most of these items circulate for three or seven days and have a fine rate of $2.00 per day. Some titles are non-circulating and must be used in the library.

Searching the library catalog specifically for items in the juvenile collection can be confusing.  For this reason, the library staff has created a tutorial to help patrons.  Please read the tutorial below to take advantage of the catalog's search features.

Juvenile Book Awards

One strength of the Juvenile collection is the inclusion of the juvenile award books. These include the Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta Scott King, and the Texas Bluebonnet award winners. 2X2 Reading List, Texas Lone Star, and Tayshas High School reading lists are also included.
