Procedure for Closing the Libraries in Case of Emergency

  1. The Libraries Administrative Office (3025) will coordinate emergency closing procedures, with the responsibility residing with the Dean of Libraries.
  2. In case of bad weather, the Libraries will follow the university policy entitled "Closing of Denton and/or Dallas Campuses Due to Extreme Weather Conditions".  (University of North Texas Policy Manual, volume II, Administrative & Fiscal, 10.2)
  3. When a fire alarm is sounded, everyone is to evacuate the building immediately following established evacuation routes as outlined in the Emergency Manual for the UNT Libraries.
  4. If it is necessary to close any of the Libraries' buildings due to power failure, gas leaks, etc., the Dean will follow closing procedures as outlined in the Emergency Manual for the UNT Libraries.
  5. In the absence of the Dean, the line of authority will be as follows:
  • Associate Dean of Libraries (3023 or 3025)
  • Assistant Dean for Facilities (2415)
