Government Documents Reference Services

As a depository for U.S. federal and Texas state publications, the UNT Libraries' Government Documents Department provides reference assistance to UNT students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the general public.

Assistance can be provided in person, over the telephone, through e-mail, or through snail mail.

We can provide you with the following types of reference assistance:

  • Strategies and sources for finding information on a specific topic
  • Information about indexes, online databases, and other research tools
  • Information about the Libraries' holdings

We cannot provide legal, medical, business, or tax advice, nor do we provide statistical data over the phone or through e-mail; but we can direct you to the appropriate sources of such information.

If you need assistance with finding or using government information, please visit the Government Documents Service Desk during regular hours, contact us by phone (940-565-2870), or send a request online through our Virtual Reference service.

If you need assistance finding materials in the Government Documents collections while the Government Documents Service Desk is closed, see How to Find a Government Publication in the UNT Libraries.

If you need extensive, in-depth assistance, we recommend that you make an appointment with a member of our staff.
