Citation Guides & Style Manuals

These books give you the proper way to cite and list references in your paper, as well as how to properly format a research paper. You can locate them at any UNT Library reference desk. Many are also available online through the UNT Libraries website:

 

In PHIL 1050.005 and PHIL 1050.006, you will be using the MLA Style Handbook.

MLA Style

MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 6th ed., by Joseph Gibaldi.

Style manual of the Modern Language Association of America, this is a standard guide for high school students and undergraduate college students. MLA style is used for writing about language and literature, the arts, the humanities, and some sciences.
