Libraries Administrative Office: Graduate Research Assistant (Planning/Assessment/Training)

About the Program
The UNT Libraries offer full-time graduate students professional experience through their Graduate Library Assistantships and Graduate Research Assistantships. During the fall/spring semesters, these half-time positions provide stipends and benefits. Summer positions are paid hourly with limited benefits eligibility.
Position Description
Provide assistance to projects in the UNT Libraries Administrative Office. Supervision is by the Librarian for Planning, Assessment, and Training. Direction on some assignments may be provided by the Associate Dean of Libraries or the Assistant Dean for Fiscal Resources.
Position Responsibilities
- Planning for library surveys such as LibQUAL+TM or the Survey of Organizational Excellence.
- Analysis and communication of survey results.
- Collection and analysis of data that facilitates a comparison of UNT Libraries with the libraries of peer institutions.
- Tracking and reporting of library performance against strategic plan goals.
- Tracking and reporting of library projects.
Hours and Location
20 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Most work takes place in Willis Library.
Duration
Fall 2008- Spring 2009. Dependent upon funding, summer employment may also be available.
Minimum Qualifications
You must be a full-time graduate student and have prior relevant experience or complete at least nine graduate credit hours within your discipline with at least one course in research methods, basic information resources management, or information organization and control. You should also possess these qualifications:
- Full-time student at the Master’s or Doctoral level.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with HTML.
- Experience or training in basic image editing.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or training in the collection and analysis of quantitative data.
- Experience or training in the collection and analysis of qualitative data.
- Experience or training in the use of SPSS.
- Experience or training in the use of Macromedia Fireworks or Photoshop
