Legal Portals and Online Law Libraries
- CataLaw: Metaindex of
Law and Government (Dov Wisebrod)
- The catalog of catalogs of law on the Internet. Arranges
hundreds of legal and government indexes into a single, intuitive
meta-index.
- FindLaw
- Well-organized, comprehensive index to sources of legal
information on WWW, including sources of news publications and broadcasts.
Includes links to other indexes and LawCrawler, a search engine that
focuses on legal information.
- HG.org Worldwide Legal Directories
- Formerly known as Hieros Gamos, this was one of the very first
online law and government sites. It was founded
in January of 1995 by Lex Mundi, a large network of independent law
firms. Features include directories of bar associations, law firms, and
experts, employment information, resources for law students, links to
almost all online legal publications, and extensive information on U.S.
and world law and government.
- Law and Policy Institutions
Guide
- Annotated links to law-related Internet resources, designed to
meet the needs of students, professionals, and the general public. Some of the
sites linked to require payment of a subscription fee.
- The 'Lectric Law
Library
- Very comprehensive, with user-friendly organization and
amusing, irreverent style. Although little of the material is original, it is
almost all available directly on the Lectric Law Library server rather than
presented as a link to another Web site. Most files are in plain ASCII text
format; large ones are .zip files.
- Legal Information
Institute (Cornell)
- Contains the best collection of original information (the other
indexes often link back to this site) as well as links to other sites.
- Legal
Resources (Stetson University College of Law)
- Well-organized links to both free sites and online commercial
legal services.
- The Public Library of Law (Fastcase)
- Free access to current U.S. and state constitutions, statutes,
regulations, and court rules. Recent cases are also available. Legal
forms can be viewed online for free, but cannot be printed or
downloaded without payment of a fee. Registration is required to view
any data.
- Research Legal
Information (Lawyers.com)
- Access legal articles, law message boards, and other legal
research resources by topic or by state.
