will help you.

Library Science Databases:

  • EbscoHOST's Academic Search Premier indexes over 4600 scholarly journals, and includes full text for over 3200.  It is a good general database that covers nearly all academic areas of study - including library science, computer sciences, etc.  Because of the extensive full text available in this database, it is useful to all disciplines.
  • Emerald Fulltext
  • Library & Information Science Abstracts (LISA)  LISA is an international abstracting and indexing tool designed for library professionals and other information specialists. LISA currently abstracts over 440 periodicals from more than 68 countries and in more than 20 different languages. Through CSA Internet Database Service.
  • Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts   LISTA indexes and abstracts periodicals (600+), books, research reports and proceedings.  Subjects include librarianship, cataloging and classification, library management and information technology.  Through EbscoHost.  Includes links to full text within the Ebsco databases.
  • Library Literature and Info Science Full Text   Indexes articles, book reviews, etc. in more than 234 library and information science journals. Provides FULL-TEXT coverage, beginning in 1997, for selected periodicals.

  • WorldCat

Information Science:

In addition to the above, the following are useful for Information Science

  • Computer Abstracts International Database,  contains abstracts of articles from the foremost journals in computer science. Subjects include artificial intelligence, communications and networks, computer theory and models, data, database, information systems and computer applications, hardware, human computer interaction, mathematics, programming, systems organization and techniques.  Through CSA Internet Database Service.
  • Computer and Information Systems Abstracts contains abstracts from the fields of computers and information technology, including both theoretical research and practical applications.  Through CSA Internet Database Service.
For other database suggestions, go to the Electronic Resources

page and  browse abstract and index titles by subject, using the broad subject "Social and Information Sciences."

Always remember to check the UNT Library Catalog

for the journals you locate through these indexes if they are not available full-text.   Many times you can use the link provided in the database record.  Otherwise, use the Title Search option for maximum journal coverage.

If at any time the above links do not work, go to the Electronic Resources Page   (http://irservices.library.unt.edu/

), click on the first letter in the database name.  Scroll down to the name of the database you want and click on the link.

On-line Guide to netLibrary

NetLibrary is a source of electronic books that may be checked out and accessed electronically.  This page includes instructions on setting up an account, searching, etc.  You can set up your account from anywhere, since it will ask you for your EUID and password.  Once you have set up your account, you will be able to log into netLibrary from any computer.

RefWorks

RefWorks is an online reference manager that is available to all UNT students, staff and faculty through the Libraries. When doing research, you can use RefWorks to store and organize your references, and create in-text citations and bibliographies in the style of your choice.

Other Useful Links

Library of Texas  Allows simultaneous search of the catalogs of several academic and public libraries in the State of Texas, as well as the simultaneous search of several general online databases using Z39.50 capabilities.  Please be aware that if you use this federated search and find some sources in a library other than UNT, you may have to log into their system to utilize them, which you may be unable to do unless you have access to it already--i.e., it's your local library.
