TECM 4700: Writing in the Sciences

If you need help using the library's resources, use the Ask Us services. Library reference staff members can be reached through phone, chat, and e-mail services. You may also contact the library liaison for the Technical Communications department, Gayla Byerly. Gayla has created a Technical Writing Subject Guide that may also be useful to TECM 4700 students.

 

Technical writing students may use the Technical Communications Lab in room 307 of the Auditorium Building.

The Writing Lab is available to students in all disciplines. The lab is located in room 105 of the Auditorium Building.

Electronic Resources

Academic Search Complete Provides a scholarly collection with full text journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study - including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies, etc. Full text for nearly 4,600 scholarly publications.

Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA) assists both generalists and specialists in keeping abreast of cutting-edge developments in disciplines concerned with the nature and use of language. The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Complete coverage is also given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics. Coverage begins with 1973.

Web of Science 10,000 high impact journals across disciplines and 120,000 conference proceedings. Best used for cited reference searching (following a paper or author through time), finding indices for authors, setting up search alerts for topics, cited articles or tables of contents for journals. Powerful research database.

The UNT Libraries will be closed Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28 for the Memorial Day weekend. The Libraries will reopen during regular building hours on Tuesday, May 29.
