To Find Books and Exhibition Catalogs at the UNT Libraries

*To find books on contemporary and or obscure artists owned by UNT,  search the UNT Online Catalog
*Choose Keyword or Subject search options.  Search names in the order of last name, first name.  Example: Bourgeois, Louise
*Subject search examples: Conceptual Art, Digital Art, Computer Art, Video Art

*To find exhibition catalogs
, choose the keyword search and type the name of the artist and the word "exhibition".  Example: Goldsworthy, Andy and Exhibition. Exhibition catalogs are the best source of reproductions of an artist's work. 

*To find art technique or books on alternative mediums
, choose keyword search. *Examples of keyword searches on techniques and mediums:  Art and Technique and Glass; Postmodernism and Art; Abstraction and Art; Art Criticism and Theory; "Rain Forest" and "North America", "Digital Printmaking"; "Electronic Media" and Art.

To Find Books and Exhibition Catalogs at the Other Libraries

*Search the World Catalog. The World Catalog contains more than 35 million records describing books and other materials owned by libraries around the world.
*The World Catalog does not include individual articles, stories in journals, magazines, newspapers, or book chapters.

*To find out if UNT owns the book
, click on the title and then "Libraries that own" link. Books not owned by UNT may be borrowed through UNT's Inter-Library Loan Department.

Dictionary of Artists (Benezit) N40 .D5213 2006 14 vols. 
One of the best sources available. Includes artists from antiquity to the 20th century.  Also includes many artist's signatures. 

Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon: die Bildenden Künstler aller Zeiten und Völker (General Artist-Lexicon)

N40 .A63 1992 47 vols. 

This source is in German but it is the most comprehensive source available.  It covers artists from antiquity to the 20th century. *Note an artist's name may have different spellings in different countries.

Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon: Bio-Bibliographischer Index nach Berufen = (The Artists of the World: bio-bibliographical index by profession), N40 .A625 2002 14 vols. 

This is a great source for fine craftsmen such as goldsmiths, engravers, printmakers, etc., from antiquity to the 20th century. *Note an artist's name may have different spellings in different countries.
