*If your print is signed, begin by searching the last name of the print artist in the biographical sources listed below.
*There is a very good chance that the name of the printmaker had different spellings in different countries. These books will reveal the different spellings. It is a good practice to have knowledge of these spellings at the beginning of your research so that you will not miss any vital information. In fact, you may not find any resources at all on your printmaker until you search all the known spellings.

antiquity to the 20th century. Also includes many artist's signatures, so you can match the signature on your print.

This source is in German but is the most comprehensive source available. It covers artists from antiquity to the 20th century.

engravers and printmakers from antiquity to the 20th century.

After you have consulted the biographical reference sources above for your printmaker, search for more books in the the UNT Online Catalog.
*Search names in the following manner: Example: Durer, Albrecht; Raimondi, Marcantonio.
*Also search the World Catalog to find out about books published nationally and some internationally on the print artist. If UNT does not own the book(s), that are found in the World Catalog, they may be borrowed through the UNT Libraries borrowing program known as Inter-Library Loan.
