*How to Find Other Books on Architecture, Architects, Interior Design or Designers in the UNT Libraries

To find books on architecture and design owned by UNT, search the UNT Online Catalog.  Choose Keyword or Subject searches.  Examples of a Keyword Search (Boolean): "space planning," interior design and lighting, postmodern and architecture.  Subject search examples include: interior decoration, interior architecture, architectural design, architectural drawing, architecture and Gehry, Frank.  A sampling of books available at the UNT Libraries is included under each topic listed below.

*How to Find Books available at other Universities

  Use the World Catalog to find books in addition to the books owned by UNT. The online World Catalog contains more than 35 million records describing items owned by libraries around the world. WorldCat does not include individual articles, stories in journals, magazines, newspapers, or book chapters. To find out if UNT owns the material, click on the title of the material and then "Libraries that own" link.  Books  not owned by UNT may be borrowed through UNT's Inter-Library Loan Department.

*How to Find Journal Articles

Search the following UNT journal databases for journal or magazine articles on designers, architects, landscape architects and their works.  Many contemporary designers do not have books published about them; therefore, the best information can usually be found in journals. If accessing off campus, you will be asked for a username and password. The user name is your EUID and the password is your Eagle Mail password. 

Search the designer's name, works or concepts in the databases below, ex: Ando, Tadao, Johnson, Philip, glass house, interior design, "form follows function".

Grove does not have journal articles, but is an extensive art encyclopedia.  It is a great place to get a quick bio. of a designer or architect, a synopsis of an art movement, etc.

AMIG (Art Museum Image Gallery)
Search AMIG for images of the designer or architect's work. 

A great database to find journal articles on designers and the design world.

1984-present (full-text articles back to 1990) (Choose the databases you want to search.  Then choose continue and advanced search.  Type in the name of the designer or architect (last name, first) in one search box and the word "designer" or "architect", in the second search box.  This will help cut through all of the articles that are not about designers or architects, but others who have a similar name in another discipline.

Use this database to find reference books that have entries on your architect or designer. (Search last name, first name of the architect or designer).
