Art Iconography and Symbolism Journal Articles
How to Find Art Iconography and Symbolism Journal Articles
*After you have identified the basic iconography and symbols in your painting from the list of General Art Iconography Sources, and then either the Christian Art Iconography or Greek and Roman Art Iconography source sections, you may want to search for journal articles written on the theme or topic. For example, if you find that your painting depicts the theme of the Annunciation of the Virgin, you will want to search Annunciation or Annunciation AND Virgin, or Annunciation AND Mary, or Annunciation AND Angel or Gabriel, for journal articles on this theme.
*Search the following UNT Libraries journal databases for journal or magazine articles. If accessing off campus, you will be asked for a username (EUID), and password (EUID password).
*Search names with the "keyword" or "subject" search option in the following manner: (last name, first), Magdalene, Mary, Catherine, Saint.
*Examples of Keyword searches: Iconography and Art, Iconography and Metamorphoses, Iconography and Greek, Iconography and Christian, Themes and Art and Christian, Symbolism and Christian.
*If you don't find the full-text of the journal article at the top level of your search, be sure to click on the "find full-text" link within the article record to find more full0-text options.
