Victorian Bookbinding: Innovation and Extravagance, 1820-1910
Victorian Bookbinding: Innovation and Extravagance, 1820-1910
From April 1 to September 30, 2000, the Rare Book Room in the Willis Library of the UNT Denton
Campus held an exhibition of Victorian bookbindings drawn from the holdings of the Rare Book & Texana Collections.
The exhibit included works ranging from simple early cloth and printed paper covers to extravagant artworks of moulded leather and Papier Mâché, all demonstrating the dualism of art and industrialization that characterized the Victorian age.
