Texas County and City Histories
Texas County Histories Collection
About
An important part of the Texana Collections is the Texas County Histories Collection, which contains over 700 volumes. The collecting of county and city histories was an interest of many people, including a number of generous donors who have helped us assemble this collection over the years. The collection contains histories of counties, cities, institutions, businesses, schools, etc. Materials range from rare early "advertising" works intended to bring in new settlers, to collected remniscences of long-time residents, to scholarly histories. Many works contain historic photographs that not only illustrate the history of the county, but also provide an important record of clothing, architecture, and social events.

Other Searching
Although extensive, this finding aid is not a complete list of all resources on Texas counties and cities held by the UNT Libraries. It is recommended that serious researchers also try searching the UNT Libraries Online Catalog, and for older materials that may not have been added to the Online Catalog, trying the physical card catalog located on the first floor of the Willis Library.
