Dorothy Howard Collection
Dorothy Howard, author on children's games and folklore, graduated from NTSTC in 1923 and taught in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Nebraska. She published extensively, including poetry, articles and books (Dorothy's World: Childhood in Sabine Bottom, 1902-1910, (1977), and Pedro of Tonalá (1989)).

Larry McMurtry, noted author and screenwriter, earned a B.A. from NTSU in 1958. A native of Texas, McMurtry's works include Horseman, Pass By; Leaving Cheyenne; Lonesome Dove; and Cadillac Jack.

From early 1700's explorers' discoveries to tourist maps of the mid 1900's, the Texas Maps Collection in the Rare Book & Texana Collections houses a notable group of maps showing the changing look of Texas. Significant items include maps showing land grants, early settlements, and the growth of the railroads.
Willa Cather Collection
Willa Cather, noted author of such important works as Death Comes For The Archbishop, My Antonia, and Saphira and the Slave Girl, is represented in the Rare Book & Texana Collections by a significant collection of first, special, signed, and noted editions, as well as works about Cather.
Warren Norwood
NTSU Alumni Warren Norwood crafted several universes for his devoted fans. Sentient ships, exotic aliens, time travel, Mayan gods of the Underworld, and a host of sympathetic characters made the 13 novels and countless articles and poetry enduring works. The Norwood Collection includes drafts, notes, correspondence, notebooks, and associated materials.
