Volume XXIII: Old English Verse Texts from Many Sources: A Comprehensive Collection

The volume comprises verse texts from over one hundred different manuscripts, inscribed objects, and (where these are the surviving primary witness) printed books. Including all manuscripts of Cædmon’s hymn and Bede’s Death Song, the Ruthwell Cross, and the complete Meters of Boethius, together with Junius’s transcript, all but a few of these primary sources have never before been reproduced in facsimile. As well as illustrating the primary evidence for the texts, the volume displays the remarkable variety of forms in which Old English poetry survives.
