Doc Spot Film Series: We From Dallas

We From Dallas is a documentary about the rise of hip-hop in Dallas throughout the 1980's and the people that created the Dallas hip-hop scene. UNT Media Library will host the film -- the final Doc Spot Film Series event of the fall semester -- at Dan's Silverleaf on Sunday, November 11 from 5-6:30 pm. The event is free and open to people of all ages. 

The director of the film will be in attendance and take part in a Q&A session after the screening from 6:30-7 pm.

Doc Spot Film Series: As I Walk Through the Valley

As I Walk Through the Valley unfolds over four decades of music in the southernmost tip of Texas: The Rio Grande Valley. The valley is the often-overlooked river-delta that recently finds itself as a central talking point in the national conversation about our southern border. As I Walk Through the Valley examines the histories and stories of musicians playing in the underground scenes throughout the decades, as told by the people who lived it.

Software Carpentry Workshop

Software Carpentry aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation.

Three Questions with Giselle Greenidge

Ms. Giselle Greenidge is a doctoral student and Teaching Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of North Texas. Her major concentration is Global and Comparative Sociology and her minor concentration is Social Stratification. She earned master’s degrees in Behavioral Science and Merchandising. Her research interests include culture, globalization, and immigration. 

Game On! Retro Games Night

Game On! is an open gaming event hosted monthly at the Media Library. Students, staff, faculty, and anyone in the community are all welcome! Each event focuses on a different aspect of gaming –– from classic tabletop games to the latest VR titles –– but everything we have to offer is available to you at each Game On! event. PC and console stations are open for you to play at with all of our newest titles as well as our older collections.
