The Innovative Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Award

Sponsored by the UNT Libraries and Toulouse Graduate School, the Innovative ETD Award recognizes UNT students who employ creative approaches and use innovative technologies to enhance the scholarly and popular impact of their electronic theses or dissertations (ETDs) and related graduate works.

The winner will receive a certificate and a $250.00 cash award. In addition, if our local winner fulfills the international criteria, the winner may be nominated by UNT for the international Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDTLD) Innovative ETD Award and supported for travel to the ETD conference.

Selection criteria:

  • The nominator and the nominee must be members of the UNT community.
  • The work must have been defended by the nominee. Priority will be given to graduate works that are distributed online in open access.
  • The nominee must have employed creative approaches or methods and/or used innovative technologies to enhance the scholarly and general impact of the work.

To nominate a student:

Submit by April 28, 2017 an email to Daniel Alemneh: Daniel.Alemneh@unt.edu, with the subject line “Innovative ETD Award Nomination.” In the email include:

  • Name and contact information for the nominee
  • Name of the nominator
  • Statement of not more than one page describing how the student employs creative approaches and uses innovative technologies to enhance the scholarly and popular impact of his/her ETD

Nominations will be reviewed by the Innovative ETD Award Committee composed of at least 3 members from UNT Libraries, Toulouse Graduate School, faculty, or graduate students.

The 2017 awardee will be notified by early May, 2017 and recognized at an awards luncheon in late May in the Library Forum.
