Library System Migration and Upcoming Catalog Outages
Over the course of the next few months, the UNT Libraries will be moving to a brand new Integrated Library System (ILS). The move will involve installing new hardware and software, which in turn will require periods of system downtime.
What are the dates/times of the outages?
- Thursday, November 8, 2012, ~9 AM to 5 PM: Server upgrade. Our current ILS will be moved to new hardware.
- Sunday, November 18, 2012, ~9 AM to 1 PM: Software upgrade. We will upgrade our current ILS to the latest release in preparation for the migration.
- Thursday, January 31, 2013, ~10 AM to 6 PM: Final steps of the software migration. We will be making the final move to our new ILS.
What systems will be affected by the outages?
Only the current ILS will be affected. The web catalog (http://iii.library.unt.edu), which powers our Books & Media search, will be unavailable, along with the staff-side ILS clients (both graphical and telnet). The following features, which are part of our catalog, will therefore also be unavailable: electronic course reserves, renew books online, Media and Music Library catalogs, the Music Special Collections catalog, and the mobile catalog.
Note that, before the January 31st outage, we will have moved the database/e-journal A-Z lists into the catalog, so the A-Z lists will be unavailable that day, although the actual databases and e-journals will still be available.
