In October, the Music Library received the collection of musical scores, instrumental arrangements and other memorabilia. The Gene Puerling Collection, will reside in the Special Collections section of UNT’s Music Library on the fourth floor of Willis Library.

Historical researchers from several universities are using primary source material from Texas digital newspapers to study slavery in the years before the Civil War. One innovative project places runaway slave advertisements on Twitter and then links back to the newspapers to provide context.

Recently, the Texas Digital Newspaper Program (TDNP) reached two million pages of Texas newspapers on The Portal to Texas History.  Made digitally available from microfilm, physical pages, and PDF e-print editions, the newspapers offer a glimpse into daily life in Texas from 1829 to the present.
