Dewey Song Collection converted to online catalog

Senior Music Cataloger Ralph Hartsock has completed online access to the card catalog of the former Dewey Song Collection contents, assisted during the last month by Graduate Library Assistant Thann Scoggin, who entered the contents of some very large collections.

Full access is now available to 800 titles in this collection.  Patrons may use the keyword search option to find various songs found in such collections as Peter Warlock's collection English ayres (M1619.E56 1927), Heart Songs Dear to the American People (M1629.H51 1909), and the Book of a Thousand Songs (M1497.B586 1918).  Esoteric foreign titles include Gedichte von Goethe in Compositionen (M1619.5.G56G5 1896) and J.B. Weckerlin's Échos du temps passé (M1730.E35 1900z).

Try searching for some of these:

  • When to her lute Corinna sings
  • Sun’s bright rays (a song of Robert Franz)
  • A thousand leagues away
  • Peter Gronland (the composer)
  • Cornwallis country dance
  • Snug of late the barons sate

Well done, Ralph and Thann!
