English Literary Periodicals Series
Abstract: Consisting of more than two hundred essay journals, magazines, and reviews, the English Literary Periodicals series titles were selected by Professor Richmond Bond of the University of North Carolina and a committee of scholars. Although called a "literary" series, the collection contains many periodicals written for a broader audience. Among the subjects are social issues, politics, economics, theater, music, history, antiquity, and linguistics. In the pages of these periodicals are represented such famous writers as Defoe, Steele, Addison, Swift, Fielding, Johnson, Burke, Smollett, Coleridge, George Eliot, Dickens, Thackeray, Rosetti, and others. The collection thus presents early and mature works of many of England's best writers.
