Adams Family Papers -- John Adams, John Quincy Adams
This collection includes papers written by John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) sixth U.S. President, and John Adams (1735-1826) second U.S. President, Charles Francis Adams, and their wives and children.
John Adams was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. His term of office was 1797-1801. During his office, the capitol was moved to Washington, D.C. (1800) and the Library of Congress was established (1800.)
The term of John Quincy Adams, John Adams' son, was 1825-1829. During his office the Erie Canal opened (1825.)
