Abraham Lincoln
Abstract: Papers of Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), the 16th U. S. President. His term of office was 1861-1865, cut short when he was assassinated soon after being elected to his second term. The Civil War (1861-1865) and the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) were two major events that happened while he was in office.
