Theses and dissertations written by students in the study of music. Included are not only those written by UNT students, but there are also many from other colleges and universities. The subject matter of these covers a wide scope of research in the field of music including the areas of musicology, theory, composition, music education, and others.
Theoretical Treatises on Music
About fifty theoretical treatises dealing with music are contained in the microform collection. Many of these are in the 202 microcard entries (Mic M 1 - Mic M 202) and cannot be duplicated. There are a few on film that can be duplicated.
Oster Collection: Papers of Heinrich Schenker
The Oster Collection, bequeathed to the New York Public Library by Ernst Oster, represents the major portion of the Nachlass of the Viennese music theorist Heinrich Schenker. It contains published and unpublished analyses and writings on music (particularly the works of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Chopin) as well as writings on non-musical topics.
Orchestral and Chamber Music Scores
A complee set of orchestral items of 1730-1810 from the Henry Watson Music Library. This collection contains works of 39 composers.
Complete Works
The microform collection for music contains the complete works of approximately sixty major composers.
Periodicals
The microform collection includes nine scholarly music periodicals, primarily in the German language, and American music periodicals from the 19th century.
