Plains and the Rockies

Abstract: Omitting Texas and Louisiana but including the region lying between the Missouri River and the Sierra Nevada Cascades, from Mexico to the Arctic, the Plains and the Rockies Microcard Series describes books, magazine articles, federal documents, a few compilations, and even newspaper items of personal experience written between the years 1800-1865. There are also promotional tracts, railroad guides and fictional items, bogus narratives and much more that provide a picture of the curious and complex western scene. Arranged by Wagner number, items are accessible by author, title, and subject.

Guides:  The microcard series is based on Henry Raup Wagner's The Plains and the Rockies: A Bibliography of Original Narratives of Travel and Adventure (Z1251.W5W2, 1953), which is arranged by year and then each individual item is numbered.
