Hakluyt Society Works
Abstract: Of interest in history, geography and ethnology are the works of the Hakluyt Society, London, which was established in 1846 to publish "original narratives of important voyages, travels, expeditions and other important geographical records." Containing more than two hundred publications in three series, the collection includes relevant books, journals, letters, and other documents. All publications appear in the English Language, either in the original text or in translation. Among the documents in our collection are Fernando de Soto's The Discovery and Conquest of Terra Florida..., Samuel de Champlain's Narrative Voyage to the West Indies and Mexico in the Years 1599-1602..., Sir Walter Raleigh's The Discovery of...Guiana..., and Select Letters of Christopher Columbus... Supplementing the book collection (G161.H2), the titles on microform consist of 38 items in series one.
