ITS/CVO Interactive Kiosk Manual

The ITS/CVO Interactive Kiosk is designed to run with as little supervision as possible. Powering up the kiosk should start the computer and the touch screen monitor software, power up the monitor and sound amplifier, reboot the computer, and start the program.

At the end of the day the kiosk may simply be powered down, and powered up the next day. However, if the kiosk is to be transported, the following procedure should be used:

  • Disconnect data cable of touch screen monitor from computer (not necessary if connected through two-way splitter).
  • Connect keyboard and mouse (through splitter if available).
  • Stop the interactive program by holding down the Command key and pressing the period key.
  • Pull down the "Special" menu from the menu bar.
  • Select "Shut Down".
  • Reconnect the touch screen, if disconnected.
  • Power down.

This procedure will park the heads of the hard drive, which is recommended for transport.

Power Supply problems

A1. Detach UPS from power outlet.

A2. Attach any electrical device that is known to be OK.

A3. If this device does not work either, the problem is with the power outlet not the UPS. If it does work, disconnect it and proceed to the next section.

B1. Detach all units from the UPS.

B2. Locate overload protector switch (it is very small, inside a round button). Press it in.

B3. Connect UPS unit to power outlet.

B4. Set power switch to ON.

B5. If light does not come on, but the unit beeps, check the following:

Line cord is loose

Rear panel circuit breaker is tripped

B6. If the UPS emits a loud tone, this means that the UPS has shut down due to an overload. Proceed to C1.

B7. If light does not come on and the unit makes no sound, advise Avalon to send out new supply.

C1. Switch off UPS unit.

C2. Plug computer power cable into one of the UPS outlets.

C3. Switch UPS unit on. If it immediately goes off and the light goes out, there is a problem with the computer. Advise Avalon.

C4. If computer runs, switch it off (power switch on front of computer) and connect monitor.

C5. Switch UPS unit on. If it immediately goes off and the light goes out, there is a problem with the monitor. Advise Avalon. Otherwise, you are back in business!
