Texas Slip Laws

Explains briefly what Texas slip laws are and where to find them.

Texas slip laws are not available in paper format at the UNT Libraries, but they are available electronically through several sources.

Usually, a period of at least six weeks elapses between when a Texas statute is passed and when it is published. During that time, one can get a copy of the enrolled bill (the version finally passed by the legislature and sent to the governor) from the following sources:

General Reports (Texas Legislature Online)
Full text and legislative history of bills passed since 1989. Reports accessed from this page are updated nightly.

LexisNexis State Capital
This online service, available to members of the UNT community, provides access to state bills, statutes, and summaries of state laws (select “Bills”).

Document Distribution (Texas Legislative Council)
The TLC’s Document Distribution Office provides copies of Texas public laws and other legislative documents to members of the Texas Legislature and to the general public for a fee.
