United States Statistics: General Compilations
- American FactFinder
- The Census Bureau's primary means for distributing census data. Find population, housing, economic, and geographic information collection from the Decennial Census, the American Community Survey, the Puerto Rico Community Survey, the Economic Census, the Population Estimates Program, and three Annual Economic Surveys: the Annual Survey of Manufactures, County Business Patterns and ZIP Code Business Patterns, and Nonemployer Statistics.
- FedStats
- Official
gateway to Websites of over 100 federal agencies that provide
statistics. Search by topic, agency, or keyword. Provides statistics at
the international, federal, state, and local level.
- Historical Census Browser
- This
online database from the University of Virginia has census data on the
population and economy of each state and county in the U.S. from 1890 to
1960 and is browsable by individual census years. Use it to examine
state and county topics for individual or multiple census years, and to
generate maps of selected data. All variables for each census are
included.
- Historical Statistics of the United States: Earliest Times to the Present
- Compilation
of annual time series of quantitative historical information covering
virtually every quantifiable dimension of American history: population,
work and welfare, economic structure and performance, governance, and
international relations, all from the earliest times to the present.
Each series is fully documented and placed in historical context by a
recognized expert. This is an updated and expanded version of the now
largely outdated Census publication Historical Statistics of the United States: Colonial Times to 1970.
- Statistical Abstract
of the United States
- This vast compendium is the standard summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. It can be used as a one-stop source of the most frequently requested statistics and as a guide to further research. Data included in this publication are taken from federal, state, local, and foreign governmental agencies; private sources; and unpublished data. Sources are listed at the end of each table, so you can often update your information by going to a pertinent Web site.
- ProQuest Statistical Datasets
- Wide range of data available from within a single interface. Users scan the contents of these datasets, select subjects and variables of interest, and view the data in side-by-side tables and charts. The product also provides accompanying metadata in the form of citation records to provide details on how the data were collected and obtained.
- ProQuest Statistical Insight
- Search the American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference
Index, and Index to
International Statistics separately or simultaneously to find
U.S. state, U.S. federal, and international statistics on a variety of
subjects. Selected popular tables are available directly from the database, but
most sources are only available in separate publications, and often only
in paper format. Once you have identified a publication, you can search
for it in the library catalog to see if we own it. If we do not, you may be able to obtain it through Interlibrary Loan.
- A Statistical Portrait of the United States: Social Conditions and Trends
- Summarizes major societal changes over the past quarter century, with emphasis on the 1990s. Includes statistics from governmental and private sources on demographic topics such as population growth, fertility, and immigration; economic topics such as labor and income; and such other areas as education, crime, recreation and leisure, voting, environmental trends, and changes in government programs, taxes, and spending.
