State and Local Statistics
Most of the sources listed under United States Statistics: General Compilations, United States Statistics by Topic, and Texas Statistics provide statistics on individual states, counties, and at least the major metropolitan areas. Don’t forget to check the U.S. sources even if you are looking for information at a level of geographic detail more specific than the entire U.S.
- StateMaster (StateMaster.com)
- Research and compare a plethora of data on US states. Information is compiled from various primary sources such as the US Census Bureau, the FBI, and the National Center for Educational Statistics. Provides visualization technology such as pie charts, maps, graphs, and scatterplots. Also includes thousands of map and flag images, state profiles, and correlations.
- MapStats (FedStats)
- Generate a statistical profile for any State, county, Federal judicial district, or congressional district. Just select the name from the menu or use the map provided for your State.
- USA Counties (U.S. Bureau of the Census)
- This electronic database provides demographic, economic, and governmental statistics spanning several years for comparisons and profiles of counties and selected regions in the United States.
