- This tool from the U.S. Census Bureau provides a quick and easy method to view the most populous countries in the world for any
given year. The data for this tool are drawn from the
International Data Base (IDB), which offers additional demographic information for each country.
- HIV/AIDS Surveillance Database
- Access data resources from various sources on HIV/AIDS prevalence and
incidence for countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the
Caribbean, and Oceania.
- InfoNation
- United Nations database that allows you to view and compare the most up-to-date statistical
data for the member states of the UN.
- International Data

- Computerized data bank containing statistical tables of demographic and socio-economic data for countries and areas of the world with a population

- NationMaster
- Over 400 statistical data sets sorted by category and by popularity
of the topic. Users can create their own graphs to compare nations. Also
includes national profiles, (mainly taken from the CIA World Factbook),
including statistics for each country, a picture of the national flag,
and an outline map of the country.
- Penn World
Tables
- This
online database provides purchasing power parity and national income
accounts converted to international prices for 179 countries for some
or all of the years 1950–2000. The European Union or the OECD provide
more detailed purchasing power and real product estimates for their
countries and the World Bank makes current price estimates for most PWT
countries at the GDP level.
- The authoritative Penn World Table site can be found at The Center for International Comparisons (CIC) at the University of Pennsylvania.
- Population Reference Bureau (PRB)
- PRB
analyzes complex demographic data and research to provide the most
objective, accurate, and up-to-date population information in a format
that is easily understood by advocates, journalists, and decisionmakers
alike. Data pertain to four core themes: Reproductive Health and

- This annual publication provides a summary of statistical, political,
and economic data on all the countries of the world and many international
organizations. For many countries, information is also available for administrative
subdivisions.

at world, regional, and national levels, covering roughly a ten-year period.
Includes data on national accounts, industry, energy, transport, international

- World Development Indicators
- The primary World Bank collection of development indicators, compiled from officially-recognized international sources. It presents the most current and accurate global development data available, and includes national, regional and global estimates. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental indicators. Data selection screens are intuitive and easy to use. Results can be scaled, charted, and mapped. Data export options in standard formats such as Excel.
- The World Factbook
- Country-by-country listing of basic facts and statistics on geography, people, government, economy, transportation, communications, and defense. Be aware that the date of the information varies widely and in some cases may be several years older than the issue date.
- World Gazetteer (Stefan Helders)
- Current
population figures and area size for all countries and important
territories and for administrative divisions; population figures for
the largest cities, towns, places, and metropolitan areas; selected
historical population data; summary statistics for countries and
territories as well as for the largest cities and agglomerations.
