A database of federal programs providing funds to individuals, private organizations, institutions and state and local governments. Allows searching by keyword or program number, and allows browsing by agency, by applicant eligibility, by type of assistance. Also on the site is a helpful publication entitled Developing and Writing Grant Proposals, which is also available in print at the Government Documents Service Desk (PrEx 2.20:)

Central source for information on government benefits and assistance for veterans, seniors, students, teachers, children, people with disabilities, dependents, disaster victims, farmers, caregivers, job seekers, prospective homeowners, and more. Search by locating Federal or State benefits, browse by category, or take a questionnaire to determine all the benefits you might be eligible for.

This gateway to government loan information directs you to the loan information that best meets your needs. Take a questionnaire to determine all the benefits you might be eligible for.
Grants.gov
A portal to grant information available to organizations from federal government agencies. The portal is organized by broad subjects, such as Education and Natural Resources, and links to the agency or department  grants information page. This site does not have information on grants for individuals.
GrantSelect (UNT only)
This database contains over 10,000 funding opportunities provided by more than 4,000 sponsoring organizations, including federal and state government agencies, foundations and other non-profit organizations, corporations, research institutes, and universities. Users can search by keyword, by geographic location, or by subject heading.
Student Aid on the Web (U.S. Department of Education)
Free information on preparing for and funding education beyond high school. See also the Education Department's Financial Aid page. Your Texas Benefits (Texas Health and Human Services Commission)
This Web site offers easy and secure online access to Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) benefits, including Medicaid, Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Children's Health Insurance, and nursing home care and other services for people who are elderly or have disabilities. An interactive screening feature allows individuals to self-screen for potential eligibility for programs provided by the Texas Department of Human Services.
Texas Register (Secretary of State)
The most recent six months of the Texas Register can be found on the Secretary of State’s site. Grant announcements are listed in the “In Addition” section. Issues of the Texas Register from June 1991 to the present are available from the Texas Register Archive at UNT.
State Grants Team (Texas Governor’s Office)
The State Grants Team provides technical assistance, statewide grants training, and federal liaison services to Texas state agencies, all subdivisions of government, and nonprofit organizations. The Team’s legislative mandate also requires management of the Texas Review and Comment System (TRACS) and administration of the Uniform Grants Management Standards.
Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) (Texas Health and Human Services Commission)
The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is designed for families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid health care, yet cannot afford to buy private insurance. The parents in some of these families have jobs that do not offer health insurance for children. Other parents' jobs offer health insurance, but the insurance is so expensive that families cannot afford it.
Energy Assistance (Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs)
The Energy Assistance Section administers two federally-funded programs through subrecipient agencies. The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is a utility assistance program designed to assist low income households in meeting their immediate energy needs and to encourage consumers to control energy costs for years to come through energy education. The Weatherization Assistance Program for Low Income Persons (WAP) is designed to promote energy efficiency in the residences of low income Texans by providing for energy-related improvements to homes and educating consumers about energy conservation.
Food Stamp Program (Texas Health and Human Services Commission)
The Food Stamp Program helps people with low incomes and resources buy the food they need for good health. Food stamp assistance is available to qualifying families, elderly people, and single adults. Emergency food stamps, also known as expedited food stamps, are made available within one working day to those in an emergency situation.
Private and Faith based Schools, Child and Adult care, and Food Distribution Programs [formerly Special Nutrition Programs] (Texas Department of Agriculture)
Effective October 1, 2007, the Special Nutrition Programs (SNP) were transferred to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) from the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The following nutrition programs will be incorporated into the TDA Food and Nutrition Division's operations: 

· National School Lunch Program, including the After School Snack Program, for faith based, private schools and residential child care institutions
· School Breakfast Program for faith based, private schools and residential child care institutions
· Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP)
· Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
· Special Milk Program (SMP)
· Food Distribution Program (FDP)
· Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
· The Emergency Food Assistance Program, administered in Texas as the Texas Commodity Assistance Program (TEXCAP)

School Meal Programs Overview (Texas Department of Agriculture)
The Texas Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Division administers the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) for public schools. The goal of the NSLP and SBP is to safeguard the health and well being of school children by establishing good eating habits through the availability of adequate food. Public and nonprofit schools, residential child care institutions, juvenile correctional institutions, and boarding schools may participate in these programs.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) (Texas Health and Human Services Commission)
The Texas Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, formerly Aid to Families with Dependent Children (ADFC), is a support service for Texas families. The purpose of TANF is to provide financial and medical assistance to needy dependent children and the parents or relatives with whom they are living. Eligible TANF households receive monthly cash and Medicaid benefits. TANF uses state funds to provide cash assistance to families with two parents who both receive benefits with children deprived of parental support because of the unemployment or underemployment of a parent.
Texas Head Start State Collaboration Office (Children's Learning Institute)
The Head Start program (for children ages 3-5) and Early Head Start program (for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers) promote school readiness for children in low-income families by providing comprehensive educational, health, nutritional, and social services. the Texas Head Start Collaboration Office (THSSCO) helps build early childhood systems and access to comprehensive services and support for all low-income children, encourages widespread collaboration between Head Start and other programs and services, and facilitates the involvement of Head Start in State policies, plans, processes and initiatives affecting the Head Start target population and other low-income families.
Texas Medicaid Program (Texas Department of Health and Human Services)
Medicaid is the State and Federal cooperative venture that provides medical coverage to eligible needy persons. The purpose of Medicaid in Texas is to improve the health of people in Texas who might otherwise go without medical care for themselves and their children.
Unemployment Claim and Appeals Information (Texas Workforce Commission)
Unemployment insurance benefits provide temporary financial assistance to workers unemployed through no fault of their own that meet Texas' eligibility requirements.
WIC — Women, Infants and Children Program (Texas Department of State Health Services)
WIC is a nutrition program that provides pregnant women, new mothers, and young children with nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and assistance with access to health care.
