Thank you for your interest in working in the Willis 24hr General Access Computer Lab. Opening are posted through the Career Center.
1. Lab Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) : This position is eligible as either Federal Work Study or a Tuition Waiver.
Job Description:
- Environment
- This position works with a large, diverse patron
base
- This position operates in a fluid, fast paced, potentially (and at times definitely) high pressure situation/s
- This position works directly with UNT community members, as individual patrons
- This position operates throughout the day and night
- This position functions in a team-based atmosphere
- Hours
- Lab employees must be able to cover the 24/7 hours
of operations
- Lab employees work a fixed schedule per
semester
- Lab employees work 20 hours a week
- Standard
shifts are 4 hours each starting on the odd hours
- Team members are allowed to work during and may be asked to cover hours during University breaks and/or holidays
- Team members must be able to attend mandatory trainings/meetings per semester of employment
- Type of Work
- Basic hardware/software troubleshooting. Problems range from mundane application questions to first-line troubleshooting on lab equipment.
- Assist & train
patrons how to use lab machines & software applications, both MAC OS
and Windows.
- Monitor the usage & care
of the lab
facility
- Access control, using approved University criteria
- Policy maintenance and enforcement
- Maintaining positive, healthy,
clean, quiet, lab environment conducive to a non-distracting academic
setting
- Administrative tasks, effective reporting, and appropriate documentation
- Phone skills including, answering, transferring
and responding verbally to inquiries
- Runs errands and other
duties as assigned.
- Lab Employees should be physically able to lift 10-40 lbs, repeatedly.

- Working knowledge of UNT campus helpful
- Proficient in the use of:
- The latest Microsoft Office Suite for both MacOS
and Windows
- Internet browsing applications including Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer
- Experience in the use of software suites such as:
- iWork
- OpenOffice
- Adobe Design
Premium
- and statistical packages (SAS, SPSS)
- Must have good command of
- Language skills, easily understood when answering phones & greeting incoming guests
- Organizational skills

2. Office Assistant (Currently Vacant):
This is a Work Study position.
Typing, computer entries, maintaining and filing office records, running campus errands and general office duties. Will answer & direct phone inquiries, some lifting of boxes and various other duties as assigned.
Must have good language skills, easily understood when answering phones & greeting incoming guests. Must be organized; a team player; dependable; punctual; able to effectively deal with the public; and be able to work w/o constant supervision. Should be self-motivated and driven to learn and retain software skills. Good Working Knowledge of computers and software applications. Must be firm in following and enforcing policies & procedures. Must be able to lift 10-40 lbs. Knowledge of UNT campus helpful.
