In the First Person
In the First Person is a primary starting point for historians, sociologists, genealogists, linguists, and psychologists. It is an index to English language personal narratives, including letters, diaries, memoirs, autobiographies, and oral histories. Sources for the index include archives, repositories, publishers, and published volumes. Included are more than 300,000 individuals. The index covers both free and commercial subscription sites. Users can perform in-depth field and keyword searches. In a future release the database will create a community space for individuals, scholars, and institutions to publish directly into the database. In the First Person is updated on a quarterly schedule.
