On November 14, the UNT Speaks Out series will present a roundtable discussion about the transition from the highly structured environment found in the military to civilian life.  Issues touched on will include drug use and suicide by veterans, as well as concerns about the services provided by the Veterans Administration.

Participants in the discussion will be Dr. Guenter Gross, UNT Regents professor of biological sciences and Director of the Center for Network Neuroscience, who was an Air Force pilot in Vietnam; David Smith, an undergraduate in the department of biological sciences and a Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan; and Jason Gibson, a graduate student in the department of biological sciences and an Army veteran who served stateside.

The idea for this program came from an article that appeared last summer in the Denton Record-Chronicle that was based on interviews with David Smith and Dr. Gross, as well as several non-UNT veterans.
