Through dedication to preservation and access, the Texas Digital Newspaper Program is proud to announce that it has reached the milestone of 2.5 million pages of newspapers that are freely available on The Portal to Texas History. Representing communities with populations as low as 44 and as high as 2.1 million, spanning from as early as September 25, 1829 to the present, and supported through collaboration from partnering libraries, historical societies, genealogical societies, museums, and publishers, these 2.5 million pages are available for research worldwide.

The Texas Digital Newspaper Program is dedicated to serving communities for the benefit of communities, no matter their size or geographic location, and no matter the size, date, or format of their newspaper collections. The goal of the Texas Digital Newspaper Program is to preserve community identity and enrich researcher access to important primary source materials from across Texas, one page at a time.

We hope you will join us for the 2.5 Million Page Celebration on November 6, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in The Forum, Willis Library.
