If you didn’t know that comics are more than just super heroes, you haven’t been paying attention. From their origin in the political cartoons of the 18th century, to the golden age of sequential art, to manga and graphic novels, to the internet, comics of all sorts are experiencing a groundswell of scholarly and popular interest. This exhibit shares highlights from UNT Libraries unique holdings of comics, graphic novels, and related materials. And don’t worry, there will be plenty of super heroes included!

Curated by Dr. Spencer Keralis and Dr. John Martin, UNT Libraries, with contributions from our Government Documents repository, the Texas Fashion Collection, the UNT Music Library, and Special Collections.

Join us April 13, 4-6 p.m. for the opening of the exhibit with Bam! Pow! Boom! Comics in the Academy, a panel discussion about the growing field of Comics Studies.
