Loading Documents on the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or on the Flat Bed
A 100-page automatic document feeder at speeds of 40 pages per minute in mono
simplex and 34 pages per minute in color and a daily duty cycle of upto 4000 A4
documents allows continuous scanning.
To load documents on the ADF:
- Lift up the ADF paper chute and lock the bar in its openning position.
- Fan the sheets before setting a stack or documents on the ADF paper chute.
-Place the documents face down, with the left as shown in A. (The long side is the top for landscape mode and the short side is the top for portrait mode.)
-Holding both ends with both hands, lift the documents.
-Hold the documents tightly with your left hand and bend them as shown in B.
-Grip the documents tightly with your right hand, loosen the grip of your left hand, and straighten as shown in C.
-Even up the feed edge of the batch of paper as shown in D.
- Precaution: The following documents may be difficult to read properly using the ADF:
-Paper with clips, staples,-Paper with large rumples, folds, curls, or tears.-Paper of uneven thickness-Tracing paper, coated paper, carbon paper, light-sensitive paper, non-rectangular paper, very thin paper-Paper smaller than A8 (Vertical), larger than letter size in width (216mm), or legal size in length (356 mm)-Materials other than paper (Eg. clothes, metal foil, OHP film)
To load documents on the Flat Bed:
- Open the document cover
- Place the document face down and align the top left comer with the reference mark.
- Close the document cover gently.
- Issue the read (scan) command from the host computer.
