Plone @ the Library

Tech Talks Presentation by William Hicks, October 29, 2008

Highlights

This is a fairly high level talk/overview on Plone and is a follow up to Brandon Fredericks’s Web Frameworks talk.  In one hours time we will cover some easy-to-moderate-level Python concepts, draw some pretty pictures in UML, talk about Zope 2 and 3, users/security and workflow, the page templating system, CSS, and JavaScript magic going on underneath the Library Web site (All very rushed of course, don’t expect a dissertation.)  In addition, we will cover some of the UI and development changes in Plone 3.x and the proposed changes coming in Plone 4.  This talk is not about day-to-day content management but the mechanics of (and maybe philosophy governing) how the system operates.
