Libraries Receive IMLS Grant

The UNT Libraries have received a two-year, $631,720 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to investigate collection development needs related to online government information.

Working with partner Internet Archive, project investigators will attempt to classify materials from the 2008-2009 End-of-Term Web Archive using the Superintendent of Documents (SuDocs) Classification System, allowing librarians to easily select archived materials for their collections.

In addition, investigators will develop measurable units for selected materials in Web archives--allowing archived materials to be quantified in a way that is  "more familiar to libraries and more recognizable by university administrators."

For more details on the project, please see the UNT News Service story at http://web3.unt.edu/news/story.cfm?story=11639.
